Tesco apologises to Muslims for Ramadan pork-flavoured Pringles promotion

People were pretty annoyed when a branch of Tesco put up a display of pork-flavoured crisps with a sign wishing Muslims a happy Ramadan.
Shocked customer Mona AlQazzaz spotted the blunder on a promotional stand of Smokey Bacon Pringles in the store in Liverpool Street, London, and shared a photo online.
Ramadan is a holy month in Islam when Muslims fast during daylight hours.
Their holy book the Koran also forbids people who follow the religion to eat pork.
Other people also shared their outrage on Twitter, prompting Tesco to remove the display.
A Tesco spokesman said: “We are proud to offer a wide range of meals and products to meet the needs of our customers during Ramadan.
“We recognise these Pringles weren’t in the most suitable place and our store colleagues have now moved them.”
One eagle-eyed person did point out that although the Pringles are pork-flavoured, they are actually suitable for vegans.
